MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BOARD MEETING – May 9, 2022
The special Board meeting was called to order on the above date at 6:00 P.M. by Board Vice-President Troy Hilt, with five members present and two members by phone. There were also three patrons in the audience to observe and listen.
J.W. Milliken made a motion to approve the agenda; seconded by Chris Hingst and carried. The purpose of this special board meeting was to review the proposal submitted by Cheylin Board of Education for the Cheylin/St. Francis Sports COOP.
After review and discussion of the proposal submitted there were three actions items:
1. Will we accept the proposed contract that Cheylin shared? J. W. Milliken made a motion that we will not accept the proposed contract; motion was seconded by Dustin Andrist and carried with a 7-0 vote.
2. If not, are we going to counter, or are we going to end negotiations for the 2022-2023 school year? J. W. Milliken made a motion that St. Francis Board of Education is ending negotiations for the 2022-2023 school year; the motion was seconded by Shawna Blanka and carried with a 7-0 vote.
3. If we end negotiations, will we still allow the girls to come over and play volleyball and basketball, and how soon do we need an answer? J. W. Milliken made a motion that we will not allow Cheylin girls’ to come over for basketball and volleyball; the motion was seconded by Dustin Andrist and carried with a 7-0 vote.
There was Board consensus that the wrestling program and the junior high football program will remain as they have been for the last two years.
At 6:34 P.M., Chris Hingst made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by J.W. Milliken and carried. The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2022 at 7:00 A.M. in the Administration Office.
