Seniors Say Goodbye

The stands rumble as the crowd roars with cheer during the games on Friday night. The women’s team won their game with the final score of 62 to 40. However, the boys game ended in defeat for the Indians with the final score being 40 to 47. It was an upsetting loss for the Indians as they have already lost to Tribune once more this year. Before the men’s game started, all of the seniors that are involved in basketball, cheer, or pep band were recognized for the Saint Francis Senior Night. Each senior and the senior’s parents got called to the floor, and every senior was given a rose to give to their parents. Brady Dinkel, senior, was also recognized for the Shrine Bowl. “My favorite part of the night was being able to play with my friends and teammates in my home court one last time and to be able to look back on all the memories I’ve had on this court since I was young,” said Karly Bandel, senior Lady Indians basketball player. In the first quarter, the fans in the crowd were very loud and proud as the Indians lead the score 11 to 9. The boys worked very hard to keep their lead in the second period, however, they fell a little short with the score being 19 to 25. During half time of the game, the SFCHS dance team presented their last dance of the year. This was the last dance for the senior dancers on the team and made everyone in the gymnasium very emotional. “Since there were a lot of seniors on our team, we will be very small next year,” said Hadleigh Hilt, sophomore dance co-captain. “This past year I have gotten really close with all of the seniors and it will be really hard to let them go.” As the game started back up again after half time, the boys from both teams continued to work hard. Tribune did not want to lose their lead and the Indians wanted to get ahead. Going into the fourth, the score was 32 to 38. The final score ended up being 40 to 47 with Tribune defeating St. Francis. “I thought we really played well,” said Devin Dinkel, assistant men’s coach. “We just did not shoot the ball as much as we needed to.”
